Heritage Roof Deck 1

At the Heritage at Millenium Park, JRA developed two roof decks and a streetscape. The public roof deck located on the ninth floor provides residents with a scenic haven that includes a sun deck, tables and chairs and a picturesque landscape. The formal design of multi-stemmed maple trees creates a Bosque framing the garden and screens the deck from the 9th floor units. Since the deck pad could not support the weight of soil required for trees, concrete planters were designed to sit over the column heads.

The understory plantings are a rich variety of shrubs, perennials and bulbs that soften the garden. On the 28th floor garden, overlooking Millennium Park, a garden of decorative pots and informal seating was created to give the space an outdoor terrace feeling with one of the best views in the city. Along Randolph Street, Marmo Maples are planted in tree grates and Wabash parkways planters contain shrubs and perennials. Parkway planters containing Swamp White Oak, shrubs and perennials bracket the Garland Court entry.

The Heritage at Millennium Park won the 2005 Residential Development of the Year Award by Chicago Commercial Real Estate, and the 2006 Award for Excellence (Finalist) by the Urban Land Institute.
